I've Carried You

You walked into my life one day;

It has never been the same.

I've carried you with me

Everywhere ...

I would do the same again.

Your smiling eyes and gentle hug;

A recurring memory.

I've carried you with me

Everywhere ...

It was worth it, don't you see?

My heart – yes, it beats for you;

So strong – proud, yet filled with grace.

I've carried you with me

Everywhere ...

Finally, we can embrace.

The Story Behind the Poem

A person came into my life at a pivotal point in time - but life changed without warning, in the blink of an eye. It would be a long time before I would see this person again; when I knew the time was approaching, my soul filled with excitement at the prospect of looking into those kindest of eyes again.
